Children’s Activities + Creche

Activities for children aged 4-14, and Creche for newborns – 3 years.

Children’s Activities

Our wonderful volunteers have organised 15 engaging activity sessions throughout Conference week for children aged 4 to 14yrs who are currently attending school.

With 100+ children expected to attend, providing and supervising these activities is a mammoth task. Parents are asked to carefully read through the program to acquaint themselves with the set activity timeslots for children.

Expectations for parents of children registered for supervised activities during Conference:

Because of the scale of the children’s program, all parents attending Coneference will be rostered to assist the teachers with supervision duties a minimum of two times during the week. If a family has more than one child in the 4-14 age group, this will be taken into account and, if at all possible, roster expectations will be adjusted accordingly.

More information will be provided as we get closer to Conference.

Creche Supervision

Children in the 0-3yr age group can be cared for in the “Cosy Cocoon” located at the back of the kitchen annex area right next to the hall. The following procedures apply to Creche:

  • A minimum of four volunteers for each session (one being the lead).
  • Each session will have a maximum of 15 children (including a maximum of 4 children aged under 12 months), allowing for a good ratio between volunteers and children to support the wellbeing of all involved, and creating a comfortable and safe environment.
  • The lead volunteer will be someone who has experience in childcare or Sunday school/teaching and holds current First Aid and CPR certificates. Lead volunteers will be asked if they are comfortable with this role prior to session times.
  • All volunteers are required to have a blue card except for those who are parents of the children in care.
  • Volunteers under 18 will be accepted if they fit the role, and do not require a blue card- but must provide parental consent to the coordinator.
  • Toileting – TWO volunteers must physically assist children for bathroom trips.
  • We will ensure children are only collected at the end of each session by a parent/guardian or a person authorised on their enrolment information. Written authorisation from a child’s parent or authorised nominee must be given for a child to leave the creche except in the event that a child requires medical, hospital or ambulance care or treatment, or another emergency.
  • Parents/guardians are required to sign their child in and out for each session when dropping off and collecting their child. In the event that a creche team member is aware that a child has been dropped off or collected, but has not been signed in or out of creche, the team member will note the time of arrival or departure and initial the entry.
  • Parents/guardians are required to give prior notice where a person other than those named on the child’s enrolment form will be collecting their child.
  • Parents are to inform creche volunteers who will be picking up their child at the child’s arrival at the session. This information is to be written down on the sign in/out sheet by the parent/guardian. Any person that comes to collect a child who has not been stated on the enrolment or sign in/out sheet for the session as a person to collect the child will not be able to take the child out of creche unless the parent/ guardian is contactable by phone and can give verbal permission.
  • A person must be aged 18 years or above to pick up a child from creche.
  • Parents/guardians are required to contact the creche if their child is unable to be collected at the closing of the session. If the child is not collected and no notification has been provided, the creche leader will contact the parent/guardian or authorised contacts named on the child’s enrolment.
